Yngol barrow - After puzzle with dragon claw

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 11:42 pm

A few other forums seem to think this is to with finding the coral claw to open the puzzle door. This is an issue in the room at the end of the barrow where there is a gate, a button, throne, chest, 2 pillars, a monster sat in the throne and a bunch of druigar things in the wall.
Some forums also discuss 2 different scenarios. a) as stated above B) no monster sat in throne, instead a skeleton with "The Helm of Yngol" which appently relates to a glitch and infinite money however, am unsure.

Issue I have is that once slaying the monster sat in the throne, I take the "Helm of Winterhold" from the chest to gove the Jarl in Winterhold. I wish to leave by the gate in the room which doesn't open, otherwise by the button in the room. The button doesnt "activate" and the gate doesn't open.

In scenario B) people say that there is a different monster in the room, no monster in the chair, only a skeleton wearing the "Helm of Yngol" which you have to lift from the skeleton in order to get the button to work.

THERE IS NO SKELETON IN MY VERSION :(

I have found no other connection other than a few posts from people who have given up as the discussion keeps referring to the Coral Claw to open the puzzle door. This is after.

Any ideas?

Did the skeleton maybe get pushed into a dark corner during the battle? E.g. pushed by a shout?

Same here. Kill skeleton dude in the throne, loot helmet... and nothing happens. Then I saw the button, pressed it... and nothing happens. Luckily I'm on PC so I tcl'd my way through the gate after spending a few minutes going over the room inch by inch.

i think theres multiple quests that send you to yngol barrow and the button only works after you kill a ghost who doesnt spawn during some of the missions. IE if the zombie boss is there then the ghost wont be

Same. You can turn around and go out through the door you came in.

Defo no skeleton that gets pushed to the other end of the room. The monster gets out of the chair, never has been a skeleton from what I am playing.

You may be right with regards to multiple missions, possible can only push the button once needed.

Suppose Yngol Barrow will remain on my map as a "goto later" area.

Thanks for your help guys

I can't even get into Yngol Barrow. I'm there, and when I enter into the dungeon I see a flash of random colors like a heat signature and then everything goes black. I can see the HUD and hear sounds, but aside from that- blackness. I got out of the game and back in, and it did it again. Not sure what to do! Kind of disheartening that the game is broken. :(

Yeah I have the exact same issue.... No clue what the solution is... One guy who was playing the 360 copy said he "Cleared the cache" which I wouldn't know how to do for PC.... Yeah... this svcks... :(

Actually found a fix for this on a ps3, not sure if it works on pc though but worth a shot. I went into the dungeon and then everything went black. Once inside, I saved the game under a new slot. I then got out of the game and then back in, and loaded the save from inside the dungeon and everything worked after that. For me, the dungeon isn't broken, just entering is messed up. Once I'm inside, save and then reload, everything is fine and I was able to complete the quest. Hope this helps:)
