I have recently started a Lord of the Rings mod for Skyrim, this wont be a total conversion like MERP, but will bring the best of the Lord of the Rings into Skyrim.
including a main quest line!

I know MERP is a conversion, but did it replace all of oblivion or give you a different file? I'm not sure.

FYI, MERP is not dead . There's an active thread for it on the forums here.
