How to get SKSE to work with Mod Manager?

Post » Thu May 24, 2012 8:11 pm

So after downloading SKSE and TESModManager, I couldn't get them to work together.

For some reason, I can't get the Steam shortcut or the ModManager shortcut to point towards skse_loader.exe. There's simply no option for me to make it point towards it. Back in Oblivion or Fallout 3 or New Vegas I was able to, but not this. Any thoughts? I want to be able to start up the ModManager and have it start the game running through skse_loader.exe like I have in the past but I dunno how to do that.

TESModManager? Never heard of that one. I know of Oblivion Mod Manager, Fallout Mod Manager and Morrowind Mod Manager though.
I think NMM is compatible with SKSE.

It's this: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=5010

Should I just use NMM? What would be the benefit of doing so?

Wait a minute, there's a version of that for Skyrim?!

Thank you, good sir. I'm off to get myself a good Mod Manager. Never liked NMM anyway.

Yeah, and if you get it to work with SKSE, let me know how you did it? Still can't get it to point towards skse_loader.exe.

Just rename whatever exe you want to use to SkyrimLauncher.exe steam will use it. rename the original exe to somthing like SkyrimLauncherBETH.exe in case you need it in the future. This is what I do, just change the name of the SKSE launcher.

Edit, or if your trying to get your mod manager to launch the skse exe just rename the skse exe to whatever the mod manager launches (may be the same as steam :P)

Be aware of the latest load order issue introduced by Bethesda that is being addressed by NMM and Wrye Smash.

What might that be?

Is this fix enough to warrant a switch to NMM?

So what does this mean? Can I not download anymore mods and expect them to work?
